Solos, duets, trios, and groups of traditional or contemporary dance.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

 

Indigenous and non-indigenous artists over 18 years old, Colombian or foreign residents in Colombia, may apply, either individually or as part of a group.​

*Proposals may be submitted individually (as a natural person) or as part of an established group.*

Calendario

Opening of the call in Colombia

February 5, 2025.

Application deadline

March 17, 2025.

Submission of the final proposal video (only for works in progress)

April 5, 2025.

Dance performance scheduling period

April 22 to May 25, 2025.

DANCE

Proposals for traditional or contemporary dance will be accepted from both Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, addressing the theme of territory protection from various cultural and expressive perspectives. The performances should have a duration of at least 15 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.

Participation Categories:

  • Category 1: Traditional or contemporary dance solos (one performer)  

  • Category 2: Traditional or contemporary dance duets and trios (two or three performers)  

  • Category 3: Traditional or contemporary dance groups (four or more performers. Groups living outside Bogotá must have a maximum of six performers). Note 1: Works in progress may be submitted, provided they include a video of at least 8 minutes that clearly conveys the proposal. If selected, the participant must submit the final proposal video no later than April 5, 2025. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the proposal being denied, and the spot will be assigned to the next highest-scoring proposal.

What benefits does the festival provide?

Festival SIE II 2025 covers the following benefits for those selected:

  • Certificate of Participation.  

  • Digital copy of the general photographic record of the Festival.  

  • Digital copy of the audiovisual memories of the Festival (compilation video).  

  • Support with technical and logistical resources for the performance.  

  • Access to cultural facilities of the Bogotá City Hall and the Ministry of Culture that collaborate with the festival, ensuring the proper development of the performance.  

  • Participation in the live streaming or Festival Circulations on social media, during and after SIE II Festival.  

 

Note 1: The Festival is working on securing resources to cover food and transportation for artists and groups coming from outside Bogotá. If these efforts are successful, participants will be provided with food and ground transportation from their place of origin to Bogotá and back. Otherwise, artists and groups will need to cover these expenses during their stay in the city.  

 

Financial Recognition:

The festival will provide financial recognition based on the modality and category of the selected proposal:  

 

  • Dance modality. Category 1 - Dance solos: $500,000  

  • Dance modality. Category 2 - Dance duets and trios: $1,000,000  

  • Dance modality. Category 3 - Dance groups: $1,500,000  

 

Note 2: Priority will be given to proposals submitted by individuals from Indigenous communities and reserves, as well as those from Afro-descendant, Raizal, Palenquero, and other ethnic groups. Proposals from non-Indigenous artists will also be considered if their work demonstrates respect for and recognition of the knowledge, worldviews, and struggles of Indigenous peoples and ethnic communities.
